Signode’s Pneumatic Feed Wheel: PN2-114

pn2-114 copy

The PN2-114 is a pneumatic feed wheel push type stand-alone tensioner from Signode. It is a great tool to use with steel strapping. Though many industries do not prefer to use stand-alone tensioners, this tool is quite popular for tensioning small loads and largely used by small industries that do not have a large volume of workloads.  The PN2-114 is used with a pneumatic sealer. As with all Signode tools, this is also ergonomically designed and light in weight. The tool need not be counter balanced and therefore it is mobile. One disadvantage of this tool is that it is not a combination tool and therefore separate sealers and cutters have to be uses. Another alternative combination tool that can make this process faster and efficient is the PRHR-114 from Signode.

The major disadvantage in using pneumatic tool is the constant movement of airlines on the floor of the workroom. This hinders the work of the operators as free movement is curbed. If the switch over to battery operated sealers and tensioners, as operators can be more productive as all three functions of tensioning, sealing and cutting can be done at the touch of a button. Presently, several industries are switching over to combination tools.

This tool sets the stand for pneumatic tensioner and though people find the previous model better, overall this tool has found its place in the market. Some people prefer pneumatic tensioners as they have an unlimited strap take-up and ensure optimum safety with a quick disconnect plug.

This is a very safe tool to use. Signode’s tools have a comprehensive safety and user manual, which the manufacturer insists customers to follow. The tool should also be maintained well for it to run smoothly for a long time. However, tools are prone to damage after constant use. When tools get damaged, it is important to fix it with the help of trained technicians rather than the operator fixing it. Allstrap has a full-fledged facility to repair tools and replace spare parts if necessary. Call Allstrap for more details.
